Charette Reflectdion

I think only having two weeks for this project really affected how we had to think through the project as a whole and in our decision making. I think a lot of time was spent ideating and trying to come up with a brand and idea that we thought would best portray the message we were trying to get across about the Beltline Trail itself. After all the time we spent ideating within those first two weeks, the time we had to implement the design aspect of the project was very limited. Having the topic of the Beltline Trail provided to us as a starting point had its benefits and drawbacks. Some drawbacks to this was having to learn really quickly about a location and topic that nobody in the group new anything about. But a benefit to it was not having to spend all the extra time trying to hone in on one particular topic that we all as a group wanted to pursue. Instead, it was just given to us as a starting point. Working with classmates on this project was nice because we all have our strengths and point of views when it comes to design that we could all contribute to the project collaboratively. But a drawback of group projects was finding time within the two weeks that this project took place where all of our schedules matched up to be able to meet as a group outside of studio time to work on the project.

I think this project was a great opportunity to get more experience in working collaboratively in groups on a project. Working in a new group allowed me to see different points of views on this project that we were assigned that I wouldn’t have really considered if I was working individually. I think as a group we overcame quite a few challenges when it came to finalizing our project because we went through a lot of different ideas and possibilities that changed quite a bit. I was mainly in charge of branding and that in itself was something that as a group we had to reconsider and redevelop a few times.

I think working in a group always helps motivate me to work more efficiently and produce the best work I possibly can because I feel a responsibility to contribute to the team. I think because we worked collaboratively, the end quality of the products we created were really well designed and thought out and each of us were able to put a bit of our own ideas into the project as a whole which made it stronger. Overall, I think our group worked well together and we were able to overcome all the design challenges we were faced with in the best way we could create.
