Components of investigation
- Listing of each person’s responsibilities at 3 scales (s,m,l) – can incorporate in book
- Mission statement
- Vision statement
- Mini-lit review (incl. case study)* = research
- Evidence of Process & methods:
- Personas
- User journey maps
- Stakeholder map
- Mood board
- Wireframes (interactions)
- Style guide
- Touchpoints, some as prototypes (incl. simulations of use) = 9 total, 3 per person
- Language, graphic, and image (the “kit-of-parts” as mentioned elsewhere and as running through project description):
- Language: taglines, narrative, voice, tone
- Graphic: color palettes, typographic standards, iconographic vocabulary
- Image: contextual photographs (often simulated)
Physical deliverables
- Storytelling video (3–5 min.)
- Tell the story about the project, but don’t show all process components
- Documentation book (16 in. width by 10 in. height, side-stitched or perfect bound)
- Two (2) copies not to be returned
- The book should stand alone as a communication
- Includes evidence of all components of investigation above
- Send along a PDF version at 300 dpi compression
- Remember to annotate each person’s contributions so that they can be identified
- Prototypes
- For anything that is physical and/or can be made, have it at hand
- Certain prototypes will exist only within the video and book if simulated accurately there (if not, make a presentation board or provide a link with the more detailed prototype)
- There will also be a requirement, probably during exam week, for each student to provide faculty with work from this and previous classes for the program’s self-documentation (i.e. junior review / assessment). More information on this towards the end of the semester.
* Mini-literature review: PDFs (texts), links (online resources), and exemplars (references). Sources for mini-lit reviews are books, newspaper or magazine articles, web sites, like initiatives or projects, etc. These should provide you with a library of analogous ideas, case studies, and more that describe trends, exemplary like-entities, etc. that should help towards further detailing your very own work.
